Emergencies do happen

Sometimes, despite everyone's best efforts to avoid a dental emergency it happens. Toothache can be caused by an infection associated with a tooth, or perhaps a broken tooth and can be very painful. Teeth can be injured in an accident – ranging from minor such as a small chip from biting into something too hard, or major tooth damage from something like a motor vehicle accident, and also cause considerable pain. In either of these situations it is a blessing to be able to get dental treatment and relief from the pain, and to prevent the spread of any infection as soon as possible.

Tooth knocked out

One particular type of tooth injury that is particularly important to be treated immediately is a knocked out tooth. Time is very important in this instance, so much so that it can hugely help the chance of longterm survival of the tooth if the tooth is placed back in the tooth socket at the time of the injury – rather than waiting to get to the dental surgery.

There is a very useful App available called KNOCKED OUT  which you might like to consider downloading on to your phone as a reference should this ever happen to you or someone around you.

How to see a dentist in an emergency

At Blenheim Dental Care we appreciate the need for urgent dental treatment in some circumstance and we offer daily appointments for emergency dental treatment from Monday to Friday. To ensure you secure one of these appointments please contact us by phone - early in the day if possible.

For urgent dental treatment at weekends and public holidays, the Marlborough dentists have a roster system whereby they take turns to provide urgent dental care. To find out who the duty emergency dentist is at the weekend you can phone 5209999 and request the contact phone number. This service is only for emergencies, not routine dental care.
